What is Developmental Therapy?
Developmental therapy is a specialized approach that focuses on helping children reach their full potential in various areas of developmental. This includes physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development.
The developmental therapist will incorporate age-appropriate activities to assist the children in building specific skills and overcoming developmental challenges. Our therapists will collaborate with parents and other professionals to create an individualized treatment plan for the child.

Ms. Paula has been with SRRC for over 25 years! She began at the center as a developmental therapist in 1999 after graduating with a Bachelor's in Psychology from Western Illinois University and obtaining her credentialing through the Early Intervention Program. In 2003 she began her current role as the Program Director. In addition to overseeing the therapy program, she oversees the Autism Resource Center. Paula also provides evaluations for children in the Early Intervention Program as well as developmental screenings, and she helps facilitate the Toddler Class

Kelly has been working with SRRC since 2011! She graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2009 with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and also has some graduate courses in Special Education. Kelly is credentialed through the State of Illinois Early Intervention Program. She was also a 2018 nominee for the Wehman Award of Excellence in the field of Developmental Therapy.
Kelly established our Down Syndrome Support Group with Sarah Baker, SLP and also runs the Toddler Class alongside Paula Williamson, DT. |
