Developmental Screenings
Here at SRRC, we take multiple steps to monitor the developmental progress of the children in our care. The teachers in the child development center provide Ages and Stages Questionnaires which are short screenings done at different age milestones of the children. These screenings go over various aspects of development such as communication, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and personal-social skills. This screening allows the teachers to monitor the growth and development of the child and be the first step for intervention if needed. The teachers also use the information from the screenings to tailor their curriculum to be specific for each child's developmental needs.

For children outside our center, our therapists provide free developmental screenings for children six weeks to three years old. Through play and parent/guardian interviews, a credentialed therapist can determine whether a child is meeting his or her developmental milestones appropriately or whether he/she may require further testing and evaluations. Parents/guardians leave the screening appointment with a report and information on activities to stimulate further development. Screenings are provided free of charge in our Center in Ottawa and at locations throughout LaSalle & Bureau County.
The LaSalle County 708 Board provides funding to help with screenings for LaSalle County children.
Please note screenings are just for monitoring of child development, they are not a formal diagnosis, and your child will require an early intervention evaluation to decide qualifications for services.

Early Intervention evaluations are the first step to helping determine if your child has a developmental delay and requires Early Intervention services.
SRRC provides early intervention evaluations for children who are suspected to have or may be at risk for developmental delays.
If you have concerns you can consult your doctor, however a doctor's referral is not necessary to get an evaluation.
